Sunday Jazz with Matt and Phil

April 24 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm

Phil Shotton regularly performs alongside many national and international jazz artists and has appeared at major jazz festivals, venues and music festivals throughout the country and abroad. Highly sought-after as both a performer and recording artist, Phil has released two albums under his own name and appeared on numerous recordings as a sideman.

The Phil Shotton Duo play music from the wide and varied repertoire of jazz standards – The Great American Songbook and beyond, you’ll be bound to recognise, tap your feet along to and even sing along with timeless jazz classics performed with stunning musicianship and a great sense of character. Requests can, of course, be catered for!

“…a round, warm tenor sound reminiscent of the great Scott Hamilton…”
– Alsager Gold & Country Club Jazz Society

“The ideal player for almost any gig, Phil (Shotton) was superb when he performed with James Morrison’s Trio at the 2018 Wigan Jazz Festival. His classic tone, and swinging style met with the instant approval of the large audience, generating an exciting two-set gig of absolute quality. Phil’s excellent delivery coupled with his ability to ‘entertain’ means he will always attract a good audience; essential for the continuity and development of this great music.”
– Dr Ian Darrington MBE / Artist Manager Director Wigan International Jazz Festival
