This cider has a subtle oak flavour and has been sweetened with sugar. Why Black Bart? Well, the cider barn has a date stone 1829 and is attributed to Sir Watkins Williams Wynn Bart. Some of the apple varieties in Black Bart are ?Kingston Blacks? ? a vintage cider apple. The cider is part matured in barrels and then I spotted Black Bart (aka Bartholomew Roberts) in a book about pirates. He spent a great deal of the early 1720?s plundering shipping around Barbados ? the cider had to be called Black Bart!
